Get the Beacon recorder.
The browser extension records your clicks as steps — screenshot, label and position — and sends them to your Beacon workspace. It takes about two minutes to install.

Unzip it
Open the downloaded file. You get a folder called change-studio-extension-edge. Keep it somewhere it can stay, such as Documents — the browser loads it from there. - 2
Open the extensions page
Paste this into the address bar:edge://extensions - 3
Turn on Developer mode
In the left-hand menu, switch on Developer mode. - 4
Load unpacked
Click Load unpacked and choose the folder from step 1. Beacon appears in the list. - 5
Pin it
Click the puzzle-piece icon in the toolbar and pin Beacon, so the icon is always one click away. - 6
Connect and record
Click the icon and choose Connect — sign in with your Microsoft account. Then open any app, click the icon and press Start.
New version?
Download again, unzip over the same folder, then click Reload on Beacon in the extensions page. Your connection and settings stay.
Already installed?
What the extension records
- Only while you record, and only on the site where you pressed Start — it asks for that one site.
- For each step: a screenshot of the tab, the page address and title, and the name and position of what you clicked.
- Typed text only if you switch on “Keep typed values” for that recording, and never from password fields.
- Fields that look sensitive are marked for blurring, and you review every screenshot before publishing.
- Steps go only to your organisation’s Beacon and its storage. No analytics, ads or remotely loaded code.
